3.3. Estimation of the number of potential beneficiares

Home Knowledge toolkit 3. Methodology for assessment 3.3. Estimation of the number of potential beneficiares

Data on average crop area per household and average household size were used to estimate the numbers of beneficiaries. We followed the procedure and dataset developed for the first RTB proposal to estimate total number of potential RTB poor beneficiaries. The data for individual countries were obtained mostly from FAO database, published sources of information, or expert opinion when needed. Estimated adoption area under the two adoption scenarios (high and low adoption) was divided by the average banana area per household to derive at the number of adopting households, and then multiplied by the average household size to estimate the total number of beneficiaries.
