3. Methodology for assessment

Home Knowledge toolkit 3. Methodology for assessment

In order to assess banana research priorities, we used two different frameworks. First, we conducted a Cost-Benefit Analysis to see if investing in banana research is a worthwhile and profitable investment and to see how different research options compare in terms of returns on investment. Second, we estimated the effects of banana research on poverty in terms of number of poor persons lifted out of poverty as an additional performance indicator.

The following sections will introduce you to these two frameworks and the estimation of the number of potential beneficiaries:

  • Cost-Benefit Analysis
  • Poverty effects
  • Estimation of the number of potential beneficiaries
