The RTB research program is celebrating new developments on gender
As we are celebrating International Women’s Day today I am glad to see the new developments that have taken place since a multidisciplinary RTB team met in Montpellier last December to discuss gender. First, we have released a Gender Strategy that will help guide our work to strengthen gender equity and responsiveness in all aspects of research, development, and uptake of new RTB technologies and practices.

Second, we will soon be welcoming Dr. Netsayi Noris Mudege, who has been appointed as Gender Research Coordinator to lead the implementation of the Gender Strategy. She will also serve as CIP’s Gender Focal point to support the Center’s efforts to implement a gender-responsive research program. Dr. Mudege, currently a Gender Advisor at the Royal Tropical institute (KIT) in Amsterdam, Netherlands, will bring her a wealth of gender experience from different parts of the world.
So it looks like this puts us on the right track to deliver on our promise to foster gender equity and ensuring that women benefit from our work on improving food security and reducing poverty. Happy International Women’s Day!
