In Sub-Saharan Africa, root, tuber and banana crops are characterized by high postharvest losses, short marketing channels and limited value adding due to their bulkiness and high perishability, poor postharvest management and lack of storage and processing facilities.

The RTB-ENDURE project is addressing these constraints by validating innovations for improved postharvest management, expanded processing and targeting changing needs of emerging urban markets in a bid to reposition RTB crops as added-value cash crops.

The project, implemented by the CGIAR Research Program on Roots, Tubers and Bananas with funding by the European Union and technical support of IFAD, has just launched its website.
